Arkas Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi
«Arkas Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi» was registered in 2002 with the former name «Sıdıka Akdemir Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi» as a science and art center for gifted students. The gifted students who study at primary and secondary schools (both lower and upper) attend the classes at our Center before or after their school hours. Within the Curriculum, we try to develop the students’ creativity with the activities as a whole and also develop their emotional and social aspects. The number of teachers is 33 and the number of students is 585.
Marine pollution occurring in various ways is of great importance for the sustainability of natural resources and the future of people. In our country, which is surrounded by seas on three sides, as in the rest of the world, problems related to sea pollution and coasts are of particular importance. In addition to industry, maritime transportation, urbanization, tourism and waste disposal, our seas have started to pollute faster every day. As a result, life sources are damaged, human health is threatened, marine activities such as fisheries are affected, the quality of seawater used is deteriorating and marine species are decreasing. So we want to raise awareness inside and outside the school, study on how to preserve the marine ecosystem and find out urgent measures that must be taken. We would have our students to comprehend the importance of being a conscious environmental friend.
